As the Team Lead, you will be part of an agile development team leading efforts to enhance and maintain an enterprise-level Java web application. You will provide technical and team leadership to help design and implement solutions as well as troubleshoot issues. You will oversee and manage the scrum process. You will need to prioritize both day-to-day and longer-term work while meeting sprint and release delivery goals - on-time and with high quality. As part of a search team, you will interview and hire co-op students and mentor them. You will need to be a servant leader that shows honesty, integrity and humility while striving to remove roadblocks and help the team succeed. Your efforts will be in support of a world-class, web-based storefront solution used by thousands of people every day to place and fulfill orders in the printing domain.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with team and other stakeholders to plan, design, develop and test features for the Web to Print solution and their successful on-time release
  • Monitor and manage customer-reported, second-level support issues to help drive a positive outcome
  • Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits, including peer review
  • Design, develop, and write unit test automation and encourage the team to do the same
  • Develop and refine product integrations both internal and third-party
  • Perform Scrum Master duties and lead scrum ceremonies to manage team sprints
  • Help remove team roadblocks, identify and correct process inefficiencies
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to teammates and co-op students
  • Identify and encourage areas for growth and improvement within the team
  • Research and evaluate technology as needed.

Skills

  • Expert level proficiency in Java, JavaScript and a modern IDE such as IntelliJ
  • Proficient with JavaScript, React.js, Apache/Tomcat and SQL
  • Proficient with Linux environments, including command line
  • Scrum skills with the ability to reach master level
  • Internally motivated, able to work proficiently both independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Presentation skills
  • Listening skills with internal team members and external business stakeholders
  • Strong initiative to find ways to improve solutions, systems, and processes
  • Technical leadership and mentoring abilities (for full time and co-op employees).

Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience as a Software Developer
  • Expert level proficiency in Java and a modern IDE such as IntelliJ
  • Proficient with Linux environments, including command line
  • Held responsibility for the entire life cycle of a shipping product or online service
  • Experience with git source control and with continuous integration/deployment environments
  • Experience with Scrum development methodology
  • Experience with multi-threading and concurrency
  • Experience with troubleshooting, debugging, performance profiling and optimization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a technical leadership position
  • Proficient with JavaScript, React.js, Apache/Tomcat and SQL
  • Experience designing and developing enterprise grade software solutions
  • Knowledge and experience with developing web applications with SOAP and Rest APIs.
